April 5 - Emotion in Motion: Bridging Memory, Emotion, and Movement Through Contemporary Dance with Alexander Hernandez
Saturday, April 5th at 11:30am
In this all-levels class, dancers will learn how to connect deeply with their characters and emotions through the lens of acting, led by an experienced actor. We’ll start with a physical warm-up designed to prepare the body and mind for emotional expression. From there, we’ll explore how memories can fuel movement, allowing you to be fully present in your performance. Throughout the class, we will engage in across-the-floor exercises where movement, talking, and emotional expression happen simultaneously. Additionally, we’ll work in pairs to do acting activities that allow you to express emotions through movement, creating a dynamic exchange of energy with your partner. These exercises will build confidence and help you become more comfortable with connecting to your audience while performing. This is a collaborative class where feedback and suggestions are encouraged, allowing us to adjust the pace or energy levels based on how we’re feeling emotionally. Whether you’re looking to tap into deeper emotions or take your performance skills to new heights, this class is a creative space for exploration.
