DanceBreak
Born in 2020 as a way to keep moving, connecting, and creating during a time when live performance wasn’t possible, DanceBreak began as projectALCHEMY’s virtual experiment in partnership with The Studio@620. What started as a way to hold space for artists and audiences to gather around dance—through conversation, collaboration, and movement—has since grown into an ongoing platform for dialogue and exchange.
Now, DanceBreak returns in collaboration with Radio St. Pete, expanding its reach and deepening its purpose: to make dance accessible, conversational, and alive in the everyday. Hosted by projectALCHEMY’s Artistic Director Alexander Jones, each session features local dance artists and collaborators sharing not only their practices and creative processes, but also inviting audiences into the movement itself.
More than a talk, DanceBreak blends conversation with guided movement, giving you a chance to both listen and physically engage. Viewers are encouraged to join live, send in questions, and let their curiosities spark new exchanges between artists and community.
“For us, performance is only part of the process—we want to share the alchemy of dance with community.” – Alexander Jones
