Based off my job working at a behavioral hospital and addiction center, I created a piece that focuses the once constant of my job: change. A Note from the Director
If you asked to describe what is it you are about to experience, a quote from James (Baldwin) immediately comes to mind.
“All art is a kind of confession, more or less oblique. All artists, if they are to survive, are forced, at last, to tell the whole story, to vomit the anguish up.” —James Baldwin
During this brief time together, you will be a witness to four confession of self. Change. Survival. Reflection. Magic. You are now apart of the journey of these powerful women, all of whom I look up to and have forever changed me.
The last five month has been a whirlwind or long discussions, trial and error (and trial again), moments of failure, and transformative self revelations.
Emily Goonan. Deisha King. Shannon Smyth. Kayla Gupta.
Thank you all for honor of being your mentor for the past several months. You have taught me so much.
And to you, our guests, I am beyond thrilled to have you in the space with us. Thank you for your support. Enjoy and be a witness.
